He didn't stay in the nexus after the encounter left him all tense and anxious, two sensations he'd pretty much been hoping to avoid for at least a little while longer while he got things back to normal. He didn't even bother finishing the rest of his errands; there was no time for that.

Instead, he goes straight back home. The second he sets foot in the house, he senses around for Harvestman's presence, hoping like hell that he won't have to track him down anywhere else.

"John?"

"I know you are." This time he does speak up, but his voice is quiet, and he squeezes their hands a little. He knows Harvestman is sorry and he doesn't want to hear it for the millionth time. "Now it's time to move past it. What you did tonight was so important, John. You've probably saved lives, do you understand that?"

[fuckvampires]

"I let him near her. I let her stay there even after I knew." He leans against Arashi again, voice getting quieter. "I won't stop testing you."

[stormbelow]

"John. Let me put this as clearly as I can." Arashi releases their hands to take Harvestman's shoulders and turn him so that he can stare right into the other vampire's eyes. "You are not more than I can handle. If I didn't want this test, I wouldn't still be taking it. So if you need me to keep proving that to you, then fine, I will, but stop reminding me, all right? I'm not stupid."

He drops his hands to find Harvestman's again, weaving their fingers back together. "Have you noticed how everyone always talks about how tough she is? And how much people like her? She's not on her own."

[fuckvampires]

"I know." Harvestman leans forward, pressing his forehead to Arashi's. "I missed you so much," he mumbles. "I would've given everything to get you back. You know? I'd give everything to keep you from ever leaving again."

[stormbelow]

"No you wouldn't. And I don't want you to." He brings two woven hands up, and pats Harvestman's cheek with two palms, one from each of them. "You need to let that go. Okay? Because I did come back, and I learned from what happened. But I also know how bad it can fuck you up to hold onto shit like that, and I don't ever want that for you."

[fuckvampires]

"Let it go?" He almost chokes on the words, indignant. "When did I ever give you the impression that I'm capable of letting things go?"

The shock is starting to wear off.

[stormbelow]

"What is it people say -- hope springs eternal?"

It's actually something that he's heard Astaroth say on numerous occasions, but there's no reason Harvestman has to know that.

[fuckvampires]

Harvestman snorts, leaning over to press his face into Arashi's shoulder and, for good measure, wrapping his arms around the other vampire. "You're kind of a dick, have I mentioned that?"

[stormbelow]

"Mm, yes." He curls one arm in close across Harvestman's back, but he reaches up with his other hand to cup the vampire's chin, tilting his head up again so that Arashi can pout at him. "Tell me how much you love it." Then he kisses Harvestman, slow and sweet. For good measure.

[fuckvampires]

He would, if he wasn't busy with kissing Arashi back, one hand knitting in the other vampire's hair. "I'd rather show you," he murmurs. "Maybe later."

[stormbelow]

Arashi smiles, his nose bumping against Harvestman's. He's just glad that the guilt has settled again, sinking back to whatever manageable level Harvestman deals with on normal days. That much is better than nothing.

"Later is good. There might be bears around here, and it would be creepy if they were watching."

Straight face.

[fuckvampires]

"Bears. I was thinking about splinters. Really. Bears."

[stormbelow]

Well, less straight faced, now that he's laughing at the look on Harvestman's.

[fuckvampires]

Uh-huh, Harvestman was just going to wipe that look off his face by tackling him and kissing him fiercely, splinters be damned.

[stormbelow]

Oh, sure, easy for him when Arashi is the one who ends up on his back -- then again, Arashi just grins against his lips and enthusiastically returns the kiss. So it's not as though he really cares all that much.

[fuckvampires]

"Fuck the bears," he mutters between sharp, quick kisses along Arashi's jawline. "I'll do you right here and now."

There's some hesitation between the next kiss. "If you want."

[stormbelow]

Arashi pointedly drops his hands to the waistband of Harvestman's jeans, tracing it around to the front, and he grins again, turning into Harvestman's throat with a hungry kiss there.

"Yeah. I think I do." The next kiss is a very human, but very deliberate bite. "But if I get any splinters, I may just bite you for real."

[fuckvampires]

His reward is a deep moan followed by a breathless laugh. Harvestman slides both hands up Arashi's shirt, but doesn't try to get it off. There was something that unsettled him about getting bare-ass naked out here, even though he'd stripped naked for less than that anywhere in a city.

It wasn't bears, okay, it was just a sense of openness that got him. Really.

"Is that a threat or a promise?"

[stormbelow]

"Just don't give me any goddamn splinters," Arashi says, half-muffled by Harvestman's neck and then his mouth as the kissing is instigated once again. With great enthusiasm. Those bears are in for a show, if he has anything to say about it.
